Though this is the last sentence of the Declaration of Independence it is by no means a throwaway line:
“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
This crowning sentence totals the terms of triumph. No less will do. Not then; not now.
We took that sentence, as it appears in the Declaration, and rearranged it to enhance the drumbeat of the word “our.” We must ever be united in our cause to rediscover our lost founding, but no less aware of the collective and individual cost, and at the same time the source of our strength: “divine Providence,” highlighted in white.
All of this on a red t-shirt symbolizing the urgency at hand, then and now, and most certainly the shed blood across the ages.
