“GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!”

Most of us are familiar with this quote from Patrick Henry, a Founding Father.

On this day in 1776, he became colonel of the First Virginia battalion.

Now, here are some other portions of the speech which contains the famous quote above:

“Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere about all earthly kings… .”
